A Familiar City Called New York

Storytime: Against my better judgement I got into an Uber with a crazy lady. I’ll explain – Mutay and I had just braved a 12hr+ coach journey from Toronto to New York and I wasn’t really feeling to search for the subway to trek all the way to Brooklyn. So, I ordered an Uber. The Uber came pretty quick – he parked, came to help us load our suitcases in the trunk and at this point, I could see he was talking, but I thought he was on the phone or something. Lo and behold when we open the car door, who is sitting there? The previous passenger he had picked…

    The Food Diaries // 004

Happy August! To celebrate the start of this wonderful month, which also happens to be my birthday month, here’s another entry for the Food Diaries! Korean BBQ is something that I have always wanted to try ever since witnessing it in several kdramas that I watch. When Mutay and I were in New York and found out there was a Korea Town, we just had to go and check out whether there were any good BBQ spots! We didn’t do any research, but luckily we chose good because the place we ended up in was the best.

    High Line SchMighLine

Another post in the New York travels pipeline! This time we went to the High Line. In case you didn’t know, the High Line is a 1.45-mile-long New York City linear park built in Manhattan on an elevated section of a disused New York Central Railroad spur called the West Side Line. You get amazing views whilst walking along, and there is some awesome art by different artists. Before we got to the High Line, we went to a cinema in Brooklyn and finally got to watch the Avengers! We actually waited until we got to America to watch it and it was honestly worth the wait. We even had hecklers in…

    Fried Chicken Is My God

In which I discuss how amazing fried chicken is and nobody can tell me otherwise. Happy June! It has been a while since I posted, but between arriving back from New York, getting back to work and starting my new internship, I have had absolutely no time for this blog. This makes me sad, but it is what it is. I’m really excited to write about my New York adventures avec Mutay, and since I was there for two weeks I’ll have to break it down into parts. New York was amazing. It’s surreal that I’ve actually been now, because NY has been on my travel list for the longest time. Now I…

    Bucket List 2015

I love lists. The process of writing one up and then getting to check off things one by one, probably fills me up with more excitement than it should. It’s definitely why I’m so excited when I look at my bucket list and get to cross things off. Last year I posted part of my bucket list, and whilst I didn’t do everything I was still happy that I got to do some of the things. Much like everyone else, I’m sure, my bucket list is miles long. I did try and do the 101 things to do in 1001 days challenge, but sadly didn’t get to finish it. I…

    Concrete Jungle

My advice for aspiring writers is go to New York. And if you can’t go to New York, go to the place that represents New York to you, where the standards for writing are high, there are other people who share your dreams, and where you can talk, talk, talk about your interests. Writing books begins in talking about it, like most human projects, and in being close to those who have already done what you propose to do. – Walter Kirn What does it mean to travel? travel /ˈtrav(ə)l/ verb make a journey, typically of some length. “the vessel had been travelling from Libya to Ireland” Fairly simple explanation.
