Where To Eat in… New York City

I think New York will always be my favourite place to write about when it comes to food. There are so many places to eat and honestly, I need to get my butt back there ASAP. Here’s my guide to where to eat in New York City! If you have any suggestions, feel free to share them in the comments. 😋 Ichiran 374 Johnson Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206 | 132 W 31st St, New York, NY 10001 Nothing quite beats ramen on a cold, wintery day. If you’re looking for some good tonkotsu ramen then Ichiran is the way to go. Boasting solo dining, you can enjoy your ramen in…

    A Guide to Amsterdam

Being stuck in bed after you’ve just come back from holiday would, for the most part, be a delight for me – except when I’ve come down with a stomach bug. Throwing up on an empty stomach is not the one. I was meant to have this Amsterdam post up basically a couple of days after I came back, but alas – cold sweats, back pains and various other ailments prevented me from doing so. Anyway, moving on from my failing body… We chose the perfect time to go to Amsterdam because the weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. I love Amsterdam – there is so much…

How to Be a Tourist in Your City

As much as I love travelling there are moments where I have to remember to be realistic. I would love to just pack up my job and go travelling around the world (as I’ve mentioned numerous times), but financially that isn’t possible for me, just yet. Yes, there are many many articles on the Internet about how you can quit your job and go travelling and earn along the way, but I don’t think I could do it just like that. Maybe that’s just me being a chicken, who knows? I have a whole future ahead of me, so I’d rather take it day by day. Despite all of this,…

How to Survive Long Haul Flights

I’ve become so used to long haul flights, especially since my mother hails from a country that is a 14-hour journey from where I live (that’s via Philippine Airlines, it’s a lot longer if you fly Emirates or Singapore Airlines due to stopovers). Maybe that’s why I can sleep on these kinds of flights because I’m so used to them? Who knows. To be honest, I can sleep anywhere. Bus, train, car – as soon as we are in transit, my eyes are already closed and I’m snoring away. The first time I went to Amsterdam, I fell asleep before take off and woke up when we were landing. 😂 But,…

    Jambalaya with SimplyCook

I always seem to write about eating out but I never talk about my second love when it comes to food – cooking! Just like writing, cooking for me is very therapeutic and I find so much joy in chopping, stirring and taste testing. Especially the taste testing. 😉 I’ve been trying out new recipes recently, especially with my meal prep. I look forward to the end of the week and trying out a new recipe. My kitchen is always smelling good every week! On the hunt to try something new, I remembered that I had a SimplyCook account and I thought, “Let me give them another go!” SimplyCook is a recipe…

    Writing Prompt #57

Back when I went to visit my cousin in Seattle, I had some free time on my hands one day and where did I end up? Barnes & Noble. (Don’t worry, nobody laughed at me for getting diarrhoea) I stumbled across a writing prompts book which I vowed to use every day and low & behold, in total Chynna style… I did not. Nevertheless, the times I did pick it up, it created short bursts of inspiration and so here is what I’ll leave you with when I decided to go for writing prompt #57. Enjoy! This snippet was written in 2017. Unless otherwise stated, the writings published within this website…

    Life Lately 6

What’s going on in the land of Chynna? When I first decided to write another Life Lately post, I wasn’t sure I’d have anything to write about but then I started doing my bullet points (something I usually do when I’m writing blog posts) & I came up with quite a few things! Life, in general, has actually been really, really good. January 2019 is probably one of the best January’s I’ve ever had. Usually, right after Christmas and New Year, I fall into a deep pit of “OMG, it’s a new year, I MUST project a new me to everyone and let everyone know my goals” but I almost…

    5 Ways to Motivate Yourself

I’ve always struggled with motivating myself especially when it comes to my writing. Often times I find myself procrastinating to a ridiculous degree and then feeling bad because I haven’t got anything done. Recently, however, I’ve found some ways that have helped me out! It’s helped me get back into my blogging mojo, so I’m hoping that I can continue to be motivated to get back into my novel. So, without further ado here are 5 ways to motivate yourself that have helped me: 1. Get Accountability from Others I’ve found that if I get accountability from other people in my life then this motivates me! If I message someone…

16 Thoughts Whilst Reading A Princess in Theory

I wanted to write more about the books I’ve been reading aside from just writing an indepth book review. I’ve done them in the past, but I don’t think I’m very good at them – I just say I like it or I don’t. I’m a simpleton 😂 I’m always very vocal when I’m reading a book or watching a TV show (except when I’m in public and I have difficulty restraining myself because I just want to shout), so I decided to compile a list of thoughts I had whilst reading this book. Gotta put those thoughts somewhere! Somebody tweeted about A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole and after reading…

    The Food Diaries // 021

The Food Diaries has got to be one of my favourite series on my blog, and I’m so sad that I’ve been neglecting it! It’s been nearly a year since my last entry to the series, but I’m back again. I’m trying to be very serious about my blogging and getting back into the game, so why not get back into things that I love writing about… food! My cousin wanted to do afternoon tea because that’s a thing a lot of tourists want to do when they come to London, apparently. I can’t lie, though, I do love a good afternoon tea. The last one I went to before December was…
