Word of the Day: Turnt

Step 1: Purchase all the alcohol from your local convenience store.

I honestly mean ALL the alcohol. Cider, beer, alcopops, and tequila – basically anything you can your hands on. Drink responsibly 😉

Step 2: Stake out the perfect location to see the fireworks.

This can be somewhat of a mission if you live in London. Usually they do the fireworks by the London Eye, however, this is a problem in that there are always way too many people. It can get crowded and sweaty and drunk people will probably accost you.

My tip, if you live in London, is to go to Parliament Hill. You’ll be miles away from the London Eye but you get an amazing view and you’ll still be able to see the fireworks.

Step 3: Bring blankets/umbrellas.

It’s going to be cold (unless you live in a hot country, of course). I don’t need to elaborate here.

Step 4: Plan ahead how you’re going to get home and come up with several contingency plans.

In London most of central gets blocked off, so you have to go around just to get home. On the other hand, it’s free travel from midnight until the next morning!

Step 5: Drink all the alcohol, make new friends and GET TOO TURNT – IT’S 2014, BABY!

Mutay and I went to Parliament Hill to see the fireworks this year. We went prepared with blankets, alcohol and even food and I can honestly say it was the best way to ring in the New Year.

I may have slightly got a bit a lot pissed and had to go and pee in the bushes like the classy lady that I am, but I had tons of fun!

Because it’s us we obviously made new friends, who we’ll probably never see again but again, it’s New Years! Who the hell cares? Nothing says ‘Happy New Year’ like dancing around Parliament Hill drinking rosé with random strangers.

I didn’t get home until 3am and then I only got like 5 hours sleep because my mum wanted to leave early the next morning to go and visit family. I woke up the next morning with panda eyes, a churning stomach and a splitting headache. As soon as we got home from visiting family, I napped for the rest of the day. I felt so sluggish.

Nothing stopped me from watching Sherlock at 9pm, however. I don’t think I blinked for the 90 minutes that it was on for. If you’re a fan of Sherlock then you’re in for a treat!

How did you spend your New Years Eve/New Years?

PS. Sorry to those that tried to access my blog in the past few days and couldn’t. My host had some trouble with the servers, but everything is fine now!
