Life

Wondering

I sometimes wonder what life would be like if young people weren’t pressured into choosing what they want to do with their life, so early on. From the time they do their GCSEs, it’s kind of expected that they’re choosing subjects that will set them up at a good university and onto a good career path.

Question in point: Why do people need to desperately know what you want to do in life?

I wonder what would have happened had I not gone to university and instead just got a part time job and travelled the world. Would I be worldlier? Or would I just be stuck up and constantly going on about how spiritual my travels were?

Who knows, eh?

Lets not live in the ‘What if?’ but live in the NOW. As mentioned in my previous post, I’ve set some goals for 2015. I am pleased to say they are going well. VERY well, in fact.

#1 Go to the gym more – check

3 times a week, baby! I’m already starting to feel a difference, and I’m only just going into week 3. It also helps that Mutay is my gym buddy.

#2 Eat clean – check

2 weeks ago, I did a food shop and bought loads of healthy stuff. I’ve swapped out white rice for brown rice, quinoa and couscous. I’m eating more greens and I’ve discovered how much I actually love avocado and eggs. Oh, and Ukrainian food. Big up.

This has become my new favourite website: http://paleogrubs.com/

Peep these delicious recipes I’ve cooked for dinner these past two weeks (some improvised, some from Paleo Grubs and some from Kayla Itsine’s nutrition guide.)

I also ordered a steak salad for the first time when going out to eat, which was under 500 calories. Clap for me, pretties. I usually go for a burger. With lotsa cheese.

#3 Travelling – watch this space

There is nothing to report here, not without spoiling things. Excitement is on the horizon, though.

#4 Get organised – check

Actually remembering dates by writing them in my planner. It’s amazing. I’m being really good with saving my money and being more productive, as well.

I’m so damn proud of me.

At least in my country, the thing is that you can’t just “take” a job, because there are only jobs for those with certain university degrees, or possibly if you have the right connections. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life when I graduated from high school, and that left me unemployed and miserable. But, I don’t think I could have done it differently anyway, because there was no way that I was ready for university studies and all that.

Great to see that you’re keeping up with your 2015 goals thus far. Keep it up!

I’m sure there are more reasons that what I present to you, but I think 1) people are genuine curious [almost nosy] like that, and 2) knowing what others do [in this society] helps them gauge themselves relative to what others are doing, assuming there’s an intrinsic value attached to a certain occupation. Because at least here in America, certain occupation = implied status due to presumed income. Why do these matter? Go back to reason #1: curiosity, much to the annoyance of the person being asked. xD

I don’t understand it either. The thing is, we are allowed to change our minds and be indecisive. I don’t understand it either, I really don’t. Why should our lives be so public? I understand all of the reasons that Agent Q presents, but really, does it matter in the end?

I’m 23 and I’ve just realised I have absolutely no idea what I want to do. There is no way children should be made to choose a career path so early, especially when changing is so difficult! Congratulations on your gym dedication! I’ve been trying to do yoga daily but my legs hurt so I’m not doing any tomorrow =/ The spicy meatballs in the picture look amazing, I’m really hungry now!

Nice job on sticking to your goals! I need to work on going to the gym. I know I always say this but at least this quarter, I don’t feel like the excuse is that I’m doing things I don’t enjoy in my life. I actually really enjoy all the other things I’m doing in my life but my motivation to go to the gym is very very low. I do miss my toned and fit self though and I do plan to go soon. Mornings are just rough and that’s the best time for me to go.

Hope you’re doing well, Chynna! (:

It would be nice if people aren’t forced to choose what they want to pursue at an early age.. Because of the regrets that may entail after. But sometimes, it may be a good thing because some people know what they want to do.. Like those kids who want to become doctors.

What I see is that people want to know what you want to do in life so that they can see what kind of person you are. It’s all in that whole judgmental process.

Good job on getting your goals in check ;). Keep it up and remember it’s all for you :). Don’t give up!! Cooking homemade food is so much better because you know what’s going in your food and it’s less calories!
