Weekly Wishes & Typhoon Yolanda
Hello, friends! How about spicing things up on my blog this week? I’m new to these link up collectives but I’m always looking for new blogs to read and new friends to make. So, I decided to join Mel’s ‘Weekly Wishes’ link up at The Nectar Collective. This week’s photo theme is ‘hobbies’, and so I took a picture that reflected my hobbies = writing – I use my MacBook to write blog posts and stories, a notepad – for all my brilliant ideas, and drinking coffee in my OMG! mug. That’s a hobby, right? 🙂
My week’s wishes include:
- Getting back on track with NaNoWriMo – this year I decided to have another go at NaNoWriMo after attempting and failing in 2011. At the moment, it’s going much the same way it did before so I’m hoping to grab a couple of hours and start writing again.
- Keep up with work – things are starting to pick up at my new job since our new product launch, and I feel like I’m a bit behind with emails/writing blog posts/other stuff. Hopefully, I’ll stay on top of it this week.
In other news, I’m sure most of you have heard about the typhoon in the Philippines, Typhoon Haiyan aka Yolanda. Thankfully my family haven’t been affected and got a bit of rain and wind. My prayers do go out to the thousands of families who have been devastated by this disaster. It’s so sad 🙁
I watched a newsreel today in which the head of the Philippines Red Cross called into the news station saying there were people looting the food trucks as they made they made their way to help out families. They couldn’t get through to the police, so had to phone into the news station to get the word across. To think, there are 10,000+ families out there that are suffering and you’re looting the food trucks. Jesus.
How about you? What are your week’s wishes?

Hopping over from Melyssa’s blog. Happy you’re joining us for these weekly wishes. I’m only on round 4, but it’s a fun way to keep yourself motivated and so far it works (on some wishes LOL).
Writing is definitely a hobby, even if some people don’t consider it like that, but it’s no different than going to the gym or photography. If there wouldn’t be writers, a lot of people wouldn’t be able to have reading as a hobby 🙂
Must be a big relief to hear your family’s fine, but watching all those other people we can only imagine how devastating it must be.
Have a great, productive week!

I’m loving this idea of weekly wishes and can’t wait for next week’s collective already 😀
You are so write about there weren’t any writers. I shudder to imagine the world without writers!
Definitely a big relief but yes, looking at the pictures/videos makes me so sad.
Hope you have a great and productive week, too!

I haven’t tried any link up collectives because I’m always too shy. I don’t know why but good luck with it! It seems like an awesome idea.
In reply to your comment on my blog…I dub thee my new best friend! Lol I LOVE, I mean, LOVE LOVE Sherlock! I couldn’t wait for it to come out on DVD here in the US so I ordered it from the UK haha! I’m so looking forward to the new series. And I am a huge J.R.R.Tolkien fan. Peter Jackson is so good at depicting the books (even though he’s been creating his own characters lately).

It’s really heartbreaking to see that in the news and what’s more tearing my heart into pieces is that I can only offer prayers and online donations. I wish I was back in my country to help for relief operations. x_x

How are your family doing? I hope they’re okay. It was such a relief when I heard my Lola was okay, because she’s getting old and can’t really move anywhere. I know what you mean in wanting to help but only being able to offer prayers and online donations 🙁
