Things I’m Looking Forward To
Summer is coming and it’s definitely one of my favourite seasons. The sun is shining, the trees are blossoming and I can finally bust out those pretty summer clothes.
Whilst we still are in Spring, it has given me a taste of the weather in summer and it’s making me really excited. So, here’s a list of things I’m looking forward to this summer 🙂
The Outdoor Cinema
Although dates and venues have yet to be revealed, I’m really excited about the Outdoor Cinema. I remember the first time I went to an outdoor cinema – it rained and it was cold, but it was amazing because you can’t really complain when you get to watch Mean Girls. The number of times you can watch Mean Girls = the limit does not exist.
You can only pre-register at the moment, but once you do, you’ll be the first to know about tickets, films and other info.
Rooftop Film Club
It’s back! This was actually the first outdoor cinema I went to, and as I mentioned it was amazing. They have four venues in Peckham, Shoreditch, Stratford and Kensington. I’ve only been to the one in Peckham because it’s the closest, but I would love to go to the other ones.
Tickets are only £14 and they even give you a blanket when you get there. The one in Peckham boasts a bar serving unique film-themed cocktails and there’s also yummy popcorn and sweet treats to indulge in.
If you get a membership, you get these awesome perks:
– 2 FREE Rooftop Film Club tickets*
– Personalised membership card
– 10% off future Rooftop Film Club and Underground Film Club tickets*
– 10% off cocktails at Bussey Rooftop Bar and Roof East
– 10% off sweets and popcorn*
– Priority notifications before tickets go on sale
– Ticket alerts for special events not on sale to the general public
– Ballot entry to exclusive Rooftop Film Club events including our launch parties
– Half price time out Card giving you exclusive offers across London for a whole year
Like I said, awesome.
East Dulwich Picture House
This is something people who live in Dulwich, and the surrounding areas, have been waiting for since December. And now it’s finally open! I managed to take a peek on its opening day, although I have yet to watch a film in there.
The building it resides in used to be a old church hall and is actually the place where I had my 18th birthday party. So, to see it transformed into a cinema is amazing! It is completely different and what they’ve managed to do with it makes me so excited to see what it’s like to watch a film inside.
Picture House also have a membership offer, which includes: free film tickets, up to £2 discount on tickets for a year, 10% off the Member’s food and drinks and much more.
Foodies Festival – Clapham Common
As a lover of foo, this festival is understandably something I’m looking forward to. Now in its third consecutive year, I still haven’t had a chance to go. This year, however, I will definitely find myself there.
I’m very excited for their new Tasting Theatre which introduces festival-goers to the latest foods and flavours including Raw Food, Japanese Soul and Vegan. Also, as a big fan of spicy food, I’m equally excited for the Chilli Food Market. Apparently there will be a Chilli Eating Challenge – who knows if I will enter, though? 😛
Holidays
As some of you who check into my blog on a regular basis know, I’m off to New York soon! Excitement aside, I know that this is just the start of the holidays I want to take this year. I’m still hoping to go to Barcelona as a birthday celebration with Mutay in September, and of course, there are plenty other places I would love to visit as documented here.
I just know that most of my money will be going toward experiencing new cultures 🙂

All of that looks like so much fun! We’re moving in a few weeks and I can’t wait to explore new events and happenings in our area. I guess a picture house is kind of like a small movie theater?

All of that sounds like a lot of fun! The Rooftop Film Club sounds like a really great deal. I love food too and would definitely be excited about a food festival. There are several here, and I still have yet to go to one. One of these days I’ll fit it into my schedule!
Have fun in New York! I used to live there and still love visiting it 🙂

Hope you’re ready for an adventureful summer! It sounds like you have some pretty interesting things listed up! Is outdoor cinema really what the name says? You sit at a table, eat dinner, and a movie is projected to some big screen outside? XD. It sounds like the film club is perfect for you :D. Make sure you take advantage of all of those perks :D. And foodies festival will be perfect for you!!! Hope you’re enjoying New York!!
