Blog Everyday in February,  Thoughts

Hang on a Second…

I was doing my usual YouTube browsing on my bus journey home today when one of those pre-roll ads interrupted my viewing. This ad was a trailer for the film ‘Endless Love’ starring Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four, Beastly, Magic Mike) and Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers, Carrie). Usually I skip after the first 5 seconds but this trailer caught my attention because I swear I’d seen a film exactly like this before… Wait… I’ll be damned… It definitely looks a lot like ‘The Notebook’.

Lets take a look at the similarities

  1. There’s a rich girl
  2. Meanwhile, there’s a local boy who her father doesn’t approve of (obviously)
  3. They share a summer of love
  4. Despite her overprotective father, their love beats all obstacles because y’kno that’s what happens in films like this
  5. Also, doesn’t their love scene look like Noah and Allie’s? Originality, where art thou?

If you ask me, you’re better off staying at home with a pint of your favourite Ben & Jerry’s and ogling Ryan Gosling on your computer (see Crazy, Stupid, Love in which we can all agree we are all Emma Stone in that moment).

Endless Love is in cinemas Valentine’s Day (but personally, I’ll be watching The Lego Movie).
