Females Are Strong As Hell
You know when you’re on Twitter and you’re happily scrolling, enjoying all the tweets supporting women, celebrating women, praising women and then suddenly a rogue tweet appears like, “Well, what about International Men’s Day?”.
Skkkkkkkrrrrtttttt.
Dear @IOnlyThinkAboutMyself,
First of all, there IS an International Men’s Day and if you actually took the time to research then you’ll find out it’s on November 19th. You know it really doesn’t take too long to type a couple of words.
Secondly, why are you so butthurt that there is an International Women’s Day? It’s like turning up to a campaign about cancer and shouting, “Well, what about psoriasis?” Boy, having a day to celebrate women is not taking anything away from celebrating men.
Can we just take a moment to celebrate how fucking amazing women are? Seriously, seriously, seriously. If you really deep it, where would we be without women?
Empty, horrible, a waste.
Aside from the fact that the entire human race would eventually die out, the world would be missing a whole lot of inventions and breakthroughs. Take, for example, Dr Shirley Jackson[1. http://www.black-inventor.com/Dr-Shirley-Jackson.asp] who conducted breakthrough scientific research that enabled others to invent the portable fax, touch tone telephone, solar cells, fibre optic cables, and the technology behind caller ID and call waiting.
There was also Marie Van Brittan Brown’s system for closed-circuit television security[2. http://madamenoire.com/192852/the-big-idea-7-groundbreaking-black-female-inventors/] – y’all would not be safe out on the street. And lastly, you know that thing you think is so manly? You know that refreshing alcoholic drink that is the colour of piss? Yeah, that. Well… beer historian Jane Peyton claims that ancient Mesopotamian women were the first to develop, sell, and even drink beer.[3. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/7538264/Men-owe-women-for-creating-beer.html] *insert middle finger emoji*
So… the next time you want to tweet something, just stop to think before you do it.
Regards,
Chynna Webley: unapologetically a fine, strong ass woman.

International Women’s Day was on March 8th and this year’s theme was #BeBoldForChange. The conversations surrounding women and supporting, raising, inspiring and motivating women across all fields of work were amazing. Just take a look at Pauline’s collection of ladies and guys who inspire her!
According to the UN, it is “a day when women are recognised for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is an occasion for looking back on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.”
Let us all pledge to raise awareness of women’s issues, eductae ourselves on women and their struggles worldwide, be supportive of the women in our lives.
Make everyday International Women’s Day ?

Lovely post, Chynna 🙂
I will never understand those people who feel that women will never amount to anything or will always be inferior to men. I think it’s good we have a day to celebrate women and men. It’s important to be aware about all the societal injustice put on women and men alike, but it does feel like women usually get the short end of the stick. We should all embrace who are and respect others based on their actions rather than their gender.
Thanks for writing this post!

Ugh, I hate it when people who are against a certain movement make it all about themselves during the former’s celebration (e.g. When is International Men’s Day? Why isn’t there a White History Month?)
Int’l Men’s Day is on Nov. 19th, can they now zip it? ??
Yes to feminism and women empowerment! #Work! ?
Nancy
There’s always that one *noob* who has to mention something unnecessary. Of course, there’s an international men’s day… Same thing for other days recognized for other things in specific. Raising awareness for one topic definitely don’t take away the importance of another.
Women made the world a better place through their genius and innovations. It’s great to give them the credit and attention they deserve.
It’s great to see women empowering others and supporting each other for a better world. I love this post, it’s great to see that some important things are recognized! Now, go out there and keep on kicking ass ;).

YES to your little mini letter to that guy, ugh. I hate it when I saw negative tweets and comments like that on social media when I was off celebrating such an empowering day. Women already take a lot of shit every day and in the past, they are STRONG AS HELL. We needed that day to celebrate and highlight how amazing they are! What we don’t need someone pointing out another group to divert the attention – THIS IS AN IMPORTANT DAY FOR US. PLS. UGH. Being aware of how awesome women are for that one day does not take away the importance of other genders, sO SIT DOWN. Gah.
I see my name! ?? I loved the campaign I did on social media , it was so empowering seeing these lovely ladies and guys in my life – I’ve surrounded myself with good, like-minded people and I freaking love it. I’m glad you liked it!
I am still so hyped from the day, I’m so excited by the movements out there. Collectively we can make such a big difference ?

There is always that one person on Twitter (usually more than one actually). I’ve met some people who also don’t like the word “feminists” (usually guys) and I find it funny because they obviously don’t know what it means to be a feminist.
Great post! There are so many inspirational women out there and it’s great that there’s a day where we can highlight their amazing achievements and also bring more awareness to women issues.

Ughhh, I hate it when people are like that. Just because it was International Women’s Day, it doesn’t mean that we hate men. It’s not a binary thing, and it’s stupid to ruin a great day because he can’t appreciate someone other than himself. Females really are strong as hell! Throughout history, women have had to endure and fight for so much, and we’re still not totally equal. I love that you’ve pointed out some amazing breakthroughs by women! Totally agree with this post!

LOOOOL i loved the post!! ‘skerttttt’ and stating that the handle was not actually the guys post! lol!
but yeah I did not really get to celebrate the day but reading this makes me feel warm 🙂
Amy
Ugh. I hate it when people complain about stuff like that. It such a waste of time, especially considering they hadn’t even bothered researching properly. Get your facts straight, and if there’s not an awareness day for something you believe in, make one. Don’t just post stupid Tweets that make you look like an idiot.
Women have done so many amazing things, and it’s great to have a day to celebrate that!

Lovely post. Women are important!

? Awesome post, Chynna! 🙂
On International Women’s Day I felt so empowered by all the women around me – and not just because they are women. It’s not that we are more than men or think we are better. We just want to receive the recognition we deserve. People are often shocked to hear about scientists or programmers who are female and contributed to some of technology’s greatest developments – because they never got any recognition in the first place.
Women still don’t have equal pay, and companies like Google work to make sure everyone in their company is treated equally not just regardless of gender, but regardless of race, sexual orientation, religious background, etc. Everyone is treated equal.
I love the title of this post ?
