You’ve seen the memes. You know it’s true.
I love Christmas music. I am an absolute sucker for it. Admittedly, Michael Bublé is my absolute favourite when it comes to Christmas music, but there are those wonderful classics that always get me boogying when I hear them on the radio or in the shops.
All I Want For Christmas Is For You – Mariah Carey
This song appears in Love Actually (pls read post about why you should watch this film ASAP) sung by the amazing Olivia Olson. Of course, the original is as perfect as ever and that jingle bell beat is everything. Honestly, Mariah Carey’s voice is bae.
Last Christmas – Wham!
George Michael prancing around at a ski resort with that hair cracks me up every time. Whilst the lyrics are sad, it’s still a really good song in my opinion. Suh iconic.
Merry Christmas Everyone – Shakin’ Stevens
The opening beat of this song is synonymous with Christmas. Literally, as soon as this starts playing in the shops then you know it’s December 1st. Listen to all the cheese! LISTEN TO IT. The creepy gnome/elf/thing around 2:16 is something that needs to be discussed. Like wtf is that.
Fairytale of New York – The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl
Arguably the best Christmas song, EVER. Such vulgar, vulgar lyrics and you can’t help belting it out when it comes on. I hope they play it at my work Christmas party 8) “Happy Christmas your arse / I pray God / It’s our last” – GENIUS.
It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas – Michael Bublé
I can’t not slip Michael into this list. I can’t.
What’s your favourite Christmas song?
